Austin Scott is a conservative that has the integrity to represent Georgia 8

In 2010, in Georgia’s 8th district, there is a clear conservative choice running against the incumbent, Jim Marshall. Austin Scott is the conservative choice.

Jim Marshall backs the Pelosi/Reid/Obama agenda

Jim Marshall is currently the Congressional representative for Georgia’s 8th district. Marshall portrays himself as Blue Dog democrat; a centrist who has voted against many of the aspects of the Nancy Pelosi/Barack Obama. Make no mistake, however. Marshall is a democrat. Had Pelosi needed his vote, he surely would have given it to her when asked. This is evident dating back to 2007 when Marshall voted to support Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. He stated that he was originally going to vote for Steny Hoyer, until it was evident that Pelosi had the votes to win. He changed his vote because he didn’t want to “stand up and stick my thumb in her eye”… by voting against her. One could conclude by that statement that if she needed his vote for any portion of her agenda, she would have gotten it. In one instance, she did get it, in the original 787 billion dollar TARP bill.

Austin Scott – the clear choice

Austin Scott is the Republican opponent to Jim Marshall in Georgia’s 8th district in November. Marshall is painting Scott as a career politician, but Scott is a staunch conservative, and not a ‘party line’ establishment republican. Scott’s voting record in the Georgia Legislature verifies that statement. In this of recession when Georgians are forced to tighten their belts, Scott voted to extend the Homestead exemption, while other Georgia Republicans and Democrats essentially voted to raise Georgians’ property taxes by as much as 10% across the board, while this current recession has seen home values decline by as much as 30%. This vote alone showed that Austin Scott is Georgia 8’s only logical choice as a true representative of the people. In casting that vote, Scott told the establishment that government doesn’t have an unlimited money tree sponsored by the hard work of Georgians. The homestead exemption ultimately failed, but Austin Scott voted on the side of the people, and not the state. He deserves the Georgia 8’s vote, because he has shown he is a true conservative and representative for the people.

In the end, while Jim Marshall votes with Nancy Pelosi and the liberal agenda a majority of the time, then comes home and talks about being a centrist, Georgians will know where Austin Scott stands all the time; at home and in Washington, DC.
